AGENT SPOTLIGHT SERIES – JOEY MAHER

Joey had the pleasure of growing up in Duxbury and graduated BC High in 2003. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from Saint Michael’s College in 2007, he worked at Fidelity Charitable and BC High for 10 years. Upon reactivating his real estate license and doing South Boston apartment rentals in 2016, Joey reconnected with the one and only Liz Bone. After 3 wonderful years as her buyer’s agent, he became a full service Realtor for the company in 2021. Being able to help people through the home buying/selling process and to see the joy on their faces at closing is the most rewarding experience he has had in a professional career.

Joey grew up and currently live in Duxbury with his lovely wife Ashley and their two daughters Sophia and Fiona. Duxbury and Plymouth County are definitely where he has the most expertise, but Joey also has been connected with the South Boston, Quincy and Dorchester communities between living there for almost a decade and going to BC High. He has also had the pleasure of venturing down to the Cape for multiple transactions, so Joey feels right at home anywhere from the Cape to Southie!

He understand that a home sale is one of the biggest transactions in a person’s life, so when for example, it takes them 5 years to find the right house, or moves their search parameters over an hour away, Joey is just as dedicated to them as he was at the first meeting. When you combine this with the South Shore SIR second to none marketing, team communication and the global network, you can’t ask for a better Realtor experience.

Let’s learn a little more about Joey!

What is your favorite thing about being a Real Estate Agent?

The thrill of clients when they get an accepted offer and at closing. By far the best part of any career I’ve had.

What do you enjoy doing outside of helping your clients buy or sell a home? What are some of your favorite hobby’s, activities, etc.?

Golf and family. If I’m not in the field, safe bet I’m spending time on one of those.

What do you love most about the South Shore/Plymouth County?

I love the proximity to the city while also being a sleepy seaside community, minus the crazy tourism of the Cape. There is so much to offer on the South Shore.

I think getting my sister her dream home, selling my mom’s investment property and selling my personal house/buying a new one all within two months, with a two year old and while my wife was pregnant with our second daughter … not a chain of events for the faint of heart! We were able to work through it and look back at the process and just smile!

Why South Shore Sotheby’s International Realty?

The Global Network/Brand was truly the main selling point! And of course, my colleague and friend Liz Bone truly made an impact on me to come join South Shore SIR.

If you could leave everyone with one piece of Real Estate advice, what would it be?

It is cliché and easier said than done, but for both agents and clients: patience. It alwaysworks out and makes sense in the end, so just be patient, do what you are supposed to do and the results will follow.

A charming couple came into my open house and loved my beautifully staged listing. The wife mentioned that she grew up in the home. We checked out her childhood room and she shared some special family memories of the home. She and her husband told me they wanted to move out of state to a warmer climate but needed help selling their primary and vacation homes and finding a home in their desired state. After a few phone calls, I found them the perfect agent and they found their dream house. I assisted in helping them sell their vacation home and am now working closely with them to stage and prepare their current home to hit the market. I am confident that with my guidance they’ll do quite selling their beautiful South Shore home. It’s funny how a conversation at an open house with complete strangers can lead to them selling two homes and purchasing their dream home in SC. I am so blessed that I was chosen to be on this journey with them.

Joining the team at South Shore Sotheby’s International Real Estate was a proud moment, as the brand means luxury and service at every price point. Our clients receive the same renounced care and attention whether they’re buying or selling a $300K or $3M property. To me, the Sotheby’s brand represents expertise in marketing and international affiliations. AGENT SPOTLIGHT SERIES – KRISTIN COPPOLA

Kristin has been actively engaged in residential brokerage on the South Shore since 2005 and now have more than 30 years of sales and marketing experience. She believes buying or selling a home can be one of the most challenging experiences an individual can undertake, but with the right support, smart marketing and her innate desire to help, Kristin can make it a stress free, positive experience.

Let’s learn a little more about Kristin.

What is your favorite thing about being a Real Estate Agent?

Helping people – buyers, sellers and co-workers.

What do you enjoy doing outside of helping your clients buy or sell a home? What are some of your favorite hobby’s, activities, etc.?

I love anything that creates laughter, working in my yard, taking long walks/hikes in the forest, musicals, movies – action, sci fi and psychological thrillers, board games, puzzles and, of course, spending time with family and friends, especially my boys.

What do you love most about the South Shore/Plymouth County?

Being close to the water and the quaintness of the communities. It feels like I’m always at a vacation destination but I don’t have to endure the crazy congestion that comes with tourist attractions.

Just about every agent will tell you they could write a book about their real estate experiences so I am sure this will sound mundane but I once held an open house for clients who had chickens and rooster who freely roamed the property. I was warned that one of the roosters didn’t like flowy dresses. I had worn what I thought to be a less than flowy dress but a dress none-the-less. The buyers started arriving and I greeted them outside to discuss the property. While one buyer with her grandson asked me questions, one of the roosters started to approach. I watched while he came right up to me and pecked me in the foot. I shooed him away and kept chatting. The poor grandmother, concerned for her grandson, picked him up and I retired into the house to avoid the roosters return. At some point, I looked down and I was bleeding which wasn’t a big deal. It didn’t hurt and I wasn’t concerned. I wiped the blood away and finished the open house. I headed to the office to work for a bit and eventually decided that my foot was feeling weird so I went home to put it up. By the time I got home, it’d been about 4 hours since the rooster had poked me, things had gotten worse. I couldn’t put any weight/pressure on my foot. My husband brought me to urgent care. As I was called to be seen, I started to faint. I was helped to the room to await the doctor who ultimately determined that the roosters beak had actually impaled the muscle in my foot causing it to swell and that in turn affected the bones in my foot which is why I couldn’t walk on it. All I’d needed to do was take some Tylenol and ice my foot to relieve the swelling. And if you’re wondering, we never did sell the house but it is a funny story to share.

Why South Shore Sotheby’s International Realty?

I was drawn to South Shore SIR initially because of the size of the office. I prefer the intimacy of the smaller offices as it allows for more meaningful interoffice relationships and collaboration – more like extended family. Additionally, the office was home to two of the most successful agents in our area so I had great mentors to gain industry knowledge and expertise from.

If you could leave everyone with one piece of Real Estate advice, what would it be?

When buying or selling real estate, it is in your best interest to listen to the advice of a seasoned and reputable real estate agent. She or he has their boots on the ground where you are looking to transact and a pulse for what is going on in your area. They will either agree with or dispel the information the media shares on the subject.
