What is your favorite thing about being a Real Estate Agent?

My favorite aspect of being a realtor is being part of a dynamic and evolving profession that serves to help people satisfy that critical and paramount need for housing. The opportunity to meet and help clients navigate a myriad of choices and make thoughtful decisions is very rewarding. โ€œAIโ€ may be upon us, and yet it still holds true that this is a โ€œpeopleโ€ business.

What do you enjoy doing outside of helping your clients buy or sell a home? What are some of your favorite hobbyโ€™s, activities, etc.?

Pickleball, Pickleball, and more Pickleball. Where has this sport been all these years? Fresh air, sun, exercise, playing a fun game, and meeting many wonderful people have all kept me coming back from more. My two grown kids are also now hooked โ€“ and they will even tolerate playing with me on occasion!

What do you love most about the South Shore/Plymouth County?

When I first came to the South Shore about 30 years ago, I had been living and working in the city and knew very little about it. When I arrived home after a long dayโ€™s work and commute, I remember feeling as if I was on vacation. Years later I have that same sense, and I have raised my children here. As a realtor, I have become very familiar with this region, which in my heart is now not just my homeโ€ฆbut also my โ€œvacationโ€ home. I am grateful for the discovery.

Share with us a memorable moment in your Real Estate career?

Iโ€™ve had a long real estate career full of many memorable moments. Rather than to describe a specific moment, Iโ€™d rather highlight a specific โ€œtypeโ€ of moment. Every day, young couples take their first drive down to the south shore in search of a new life, starting with their first home – as I once did. Itโ€™s hard to beat that feeling one gets from helping people ultimately make their dream a realityโ€ฆand in seeing just how happy a young couple is, for example, when they get the news that they have secured that first home and are about to launch their future.

I have worked for 4 successful brokerages over the years, but I gravitated to and stuck with South Shore Sothebyโ€™s International Realty after realizing that they are clearly the best at what they do. Before making any big decisions, take a breath. Think about what you are trying to accomplish, get prepared, and avoid being impulsive. Find a great agent to work with – someone who will be in your corner, someone always accessible and who works at this full time, and someone who will guide you with both knowledge and experience. Whether buying or selling, real estate can become stressful. Taking that breath and having a good partner in your process will provide security, will take the edge off, and will bring you success.

What is your favorite thing about being a Real Estate Agent?

I really enjoy helping people through the process of determining what their specific needs are in housing and being able to share my depth of knowledge about the process as well as matching them to a property that will work for them.

What do you enjoy doing outside of helping your clients buy or sell a home? What are some of your favorite hobbyโ€™s, activities, etc.?

I am deeply involved with the none-profit world โ€“ specifically as President of the DRHS, director at DYC and also promoting all of the Duxbury non-profit organizations who have culture, education and/or culture as their primary mission. I was instrumental in forming the DCC (Duxbury Community Collaborative) which promotes these groups.

I enjoy traveling and have traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally, have visited over 35 countries. We most recently visited Mt. Rushmore and Charleston and Savannah.

I play bridge and paddle tennis and am an avid reader. We love spending time outdoors, both hiking and boatin.

What do you love most about the South Shore/Plymouth County?

I especially love the history of this area where I grew up and have lived my whole life. The area holds so many wonderful memories of friend and family experiences. I canโ€™t imagine living any where else.

Share with us a memorable moment in your Real Estate career?

In 2005, I was referred to couple who were considering a move to Duxbury from Pittsburgh. The wife had spent time here in her college years and that memory had stayed with her. We met and talked about what they wanted and then looked at some properties. During one of these visits, the wife brought out the Duxbury Book and showed me the house on the cover and said โ€œIf you can find us a house like this one, it would be perfect.โ€ I mentioned that I had sold that house a couple of times in the past and that I understood exactly what they were looking for. Then, lo and behold, several weeks later, I had a call of the then current owner of that particular house who told me they were planning to sell it and wanted my advice as they were planning to list it with me. I told them, I had the โ€œperfect buyerโ€ and explained the background story to them. They told me to go ahead a contact the Pittsburgh buyers, which I did. The buyers drove up from Pittsburgh the next day and made an offer on the property. By the way, they still live there today!

Why South Shore Sothebyโ€™s International Realty?

I began my career in real estate in 1969 with my first sale being a small cape off Warren Avenue in Plymouth. I worked for several companies and then started Macdonald & Wood Real Estate, with my partner, Audrey Macdonald. We were invited to become an affiliate of the real estate arm of Sothebyโ€™s in the 1990โ€™s when they were just forming the corporate structure for what would become Sothebyโ€™s International Realty in the early 2000โ€™s. I bought Audreyโ€™s share of the company in 2000 and then determined that the Sothebyโ€™s International Realty brand was something I really admired and wanted to be a part of. So, I bought the franchise for our office in 2004-2005. I know I made the right decision.

If you could leave everyone with one piece of Real Estate advice, what would it be?

Being in the real estate business involves a full time commitment to putting other peopleโ€™s needs in front of your own. It isnโ€™t always easy, but it pays off in the long run with sustaining a reputation for honesty and fairness.

I have two very active boys, I love watching them play their sports and enjoy being present watching them grow up. I also love live music, pilates and asking my husband to cook me good food!

I was born and raised on the south shore in Scituate, after moving away and traveling the country I returned home with a new found appreciation of the lovely tight knit community the south shore has to offer. The beaches are top on my list.

Attending my first Sotheby’s International Realty Global Networking Event in Las Vegas last year was very memorable, that is where I truly understood the power of our brand. Being a part of the Sotheby’s network is truly a privilege.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, going to the beach, on our boat, traveling, and going to new restaurants.

I love how special this area of the world is. Itโ€™s beautiful in every season. Itโ€™s easy to get to Boston or the cape, but thereโ€™s still a ton to do. I also love the community and how it can be a small world within the south shore.

Share with us a memorable moment in your Real Estate career?

One of my best friends from childhood was moving home from the mid west. Her family asked me to help them find a home and work through a crazy 2021 market. We ended up getting the first offer they put in accepted- which was unheard of in that market- and they found an amazing neighborhood to move into close to their family. It was an amazing experience to help out a friend in a professional setting.

What is your favorite thing about being a Real Estate Agent?

I really love the houses. I have always loved architecture and home design, so the houses are the draw for me. Donโ€™t get me wrong, Iโ€™m a people person, so the relationships made are a strong second, but the houses have my heart. So many wonderful things happen in a home.

I LOVE to play tennis! It gets me moving, and itโ€™s a great social activity. Iโ€™ve met so many wonderful people of all ages and abilities over the years. I also love to cook, entertain, and set a gorgeous table for my friends and family.

I love how safe it is here.  Duxbury in particular is a dreamy little jewel of a place where my kids can walk around town and ride their bikes. People look out for one another here.  Itโ€™s a really wonderful place to raise kids.

The time I got locked out of a house on the second story deck with my clients! I had to climb over the railing and jump down to the pool deck like a ninja and save the day!!  Luckily I was wearing boots.

What is your favorite thing about being a Real Estate Agent?

In my spare time I love to renovate and decorate my home. It’s constantly evolving and I am often inspired by the homes I am fortunate to view in my line of work. I also love to travel. I just had an amazing 10 days in Italy with my children and am planning our next unique adventure. I can be a home body so my gardens, kayaking on my pond and spending time with family and friends are my most rewarding moments

What do you love most about the South Shore/Plymouth County?

I grew up on the South Shore and have lived in various towns along our gorgeous coast. The ocean, the beaches, the dining and the sense of family is like no other. I often joke that “The South Shore is a very small town!”

Oh, I have had lots of memorable moments over the last decade. Sellers obtaining accepted offers over and above their wildest dreams which changed their life in the most positive of ways. My most recent moment was when my recent buyers who lost out on several bids and were utterly dejected and thought they would never find a home became the winning bidder on their absolute dream home. At walk through just before closing they fell to their knees sobbing with gratitude. I will never forget that moment!

What is your favorite thing about being a Real Estate Agent?

I enjoy helping people โ€œget to their next chapter.โ€ This looks so different for everyone and I love being a part of their journey. Iโ€™ve had the joy of helping first-time homebuyers to downsizers selling their home so they could travel across country in their RV. I get to really know my clients and often we become friends. I was just at an engagement party recently and have an upcoming baby shower to attend!

What do you enjoy doing outside of helping your clients buy or sell a home? What are some of your favorite hobbyโ€™s, activities, etc.?

When I am not working, I enjoy biking, gardening and going to the beach. You will also see me walking my rescue dog โ€œBobโ€. I have four children ranging from 11 to 19 so they keep me very busy as well!

What do you love most about the South Shore/Plymouth County?

I love living near the ocean and being able to go to the beach. I grew up on Cape Cod so going to the beach/swimming/boating were regular hobbies for me. When my husband and I were looking to move back here from Connecticut, we knew we wanted to be near the ocean. He grew up spending summers on Gunrock Beach in Hull so the ocean was important to him as well. Having lots of family on the South Shore made our decision easy! And being in Duxbury makes for a nice commute north or south to see our families.

Share with us a memorable moment in your Real Estate career?

I canโ€™t pick just one momentโ€ฆitโ€™s too hard! Realtors often joke that they could write a book with the stories they have! Back before COVID, when we would actually meet at a closing tableโ€ฆwatching first-time home buyers sign their closing documents was always my favorite. I remember one clientโ€ฆa single motherโ€ฆwho cried because she was so happy to have a house with a yard for her son and her dog.

“Born and raised in Toronto, I played NCAA Hockey in upstate New York, where I graduated with a degree in Business. While attending college, I met my wife Lindsay and we decided to raise our family on the South Shore. What are you most looking forward to in 2024?

In 2024, I am looking forward to helping my clients achieve their real estate goals. On a personal note, I am excited to watch my son grow and explore the world around him.

What do you enjoy doing outside of Real Estate?

I enjoy playing hockey, golf, and hanging out with my wife, Lindsay, and son, Charlie.
